Alone

I took this image whilst sat on the kerb at the side of a street. I was actually waiting for the flower parade to start at Spalding Flower Festival and the street was absolutely packed, hundreds of pedestrians standing around, walking up and down, buses driving up and down the street, emergency vehicles parked up at the side and driving up and down.
Whilst I was sat on the kerb waiting for the parade to start, I'd been fascinated by this man, who had positioned himself at the side of the road in his little fold-out chair. The position he'd decided to sit down in was fantastic, as the conifers provided a really great backdrop, and he'd chosen one of the only places where there were no interruptions - people, cars, buses, etc. - so I managed to get this shot which, despite the huge amounts of activity at the sides and behind the cameras frame, make the man look completely alone, and I think that is what has made the image look so good.
I'm very proud of capturing this image and making it have a sort of false effect because of how he looks alone but is actually very far from it.
